Orbital Ventures is the Epiphyte Corp portfolio building the layers they need: identity, delegated authority over spend, and policy and audit. Alongside them sit open-source tools for infrastructure and markets. Each product's status is stated and dated.
Why this portfolio
Software that acts on its own still has to answer to someone.
A person at a keyboard settles most of this without thinking: they are signed in, they click approve, and the record shows their name. Take the person out of the loop and four questions need an answer built into the infrastructure.
Who is acting?
Every autonomous system needs its own identity, traceable to the person or organisation it acts for. Orbital Passport is being built to provide that identity.
What may it spend?
Authority over money should be granted in advance, limited, and withdrawable by whoever granted it. Orbital Pay is being built on delegated authority, so that autonomous systems can transact on your behalf, under your control.
Was the call allowed, and where is the record?
A call to a model or a tool can read data, run a command or change a system, so it should be checked against policy and recorded. Orbital Guard, brought to market as Monarch, is being built for that: every model call passes its governance gateway, policy is checked before each tool call runs, and every action is bound to an accountable identity.
What is it running on?
The infrastructure underneath should be as easy to inspect as the actions on top. Orbi manages infrastructure across clouds with a SQL-like language, and its source is public.
Four more products work in narrower fields. Orbital Twin is being built to compare what a satellite should be doing with what it reports, and Orbital Ground to bring telemetry from many ground stations into one control hub. CRUX Aerospace is building the KAIKEN launch vehicles for small satellites. Orbital Trade brings market research tools to the pages traders already read.
